With sadness, the family of Yvette Therese Lischka announce that she passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre on March 4, 2026, at the age of 89.

Yvette is survived by her loving family: Marc (Norma) Lischka, Nicol Lischka, Natalie (Max Wiebe) Lischka, Monique Lischka, Vanessa (Greg) Zapski, Kurt (Angie) Lischka, brother-in-law Leonard Fallows, Great Grandchildren, Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Jeanne Laurin, her brother & sister-in-law Herman and Laurette Laurin, her sister Rosalie Fallows, her daughter Jacqi Kurtenbach and by her loving husband of 49 years Nickolas Andrew Lischka.

Yvette was the youngest of the three children who grew up in Bodmin, SK. Her parents owned a small parcel of land from which her father was able to raise some livestock to provide food for their family.

Once old enough to be on her own Yvette moved back to Bodmin to live with her brother Herman for a short time before heading out East to Winnipeg and then Montreal in search of work. She worked as a secretary and then later a model in, which she really enjoyed.

At the age of 24, Yvette moved back to Saskatchewan and began dating Nickolas Lischka from Lampman, SK who she had first met when she was 15 years old. They married on September 17, 1960, and relocated to Prince Albert, SK.

Soon after starting a family, they decided to move to Holbein, SK where they could provide their 7 children with the safety and beauty of rural life. Yvette spent the next 30 years alongside her husband building up the homestead for their growing family. Yvette wore many hats: educator, caregiver, and seamstress. Her passions were baking cinnamon buns and cinnamon/sugar cake donuts for her children, knitting, gardening, cross country skiing, and spending as much time with her family as she could.

After her children were grown and her husband had passed, Yvette continued to keep her spirits up with daily walks, reading, and knitting for local charities. In the winter months she loved watching her curling on tv. She also liked visiting with friends and family at the local "Hortons".

Yvette will be greatly missed and remembered by her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at her family home. Date and time to be announced in the spring.
