Todd Kenneth
Szautner
June 25, 1974 – April 20, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Todd “Spicoli” Szautner. Todd was born to Mary Labrecque and Gordy Szautner in Humboldt, Saskatchewan on June 25, 1974. Growing up, Todd loved playing on the farm, climbing trees, playing softball, and was often found outside playing with his toy trucks. Todd was a very special man - steadfast and assured - who lived life his own way. During his younger years, he lived in multiple places, though was residing in Elrose, Saskatchewan with his daughter Amity at the time of his passing.
Todd started roughnecking on oil rigs at the age of 19 and was extremely committed, driven, and talented. Under the care and attention of Papa Camil, Todd became a driller and continued with passion and pride until the age of 50. In addition to working rigs, Todd drove truck, worked in restaurants, and was a farmhand.
Todd moved to Elrose in 1999 and met his life partner, Leeanne, in 2004. Leeanne had two girls, Emily and Mackenzie, and Todd raised and loved them as his own daughters. Todd and Leeanne welcomed their daughter Amity in March 2006. Todd treasured taking the girls camping, blasting his music while banging the steering wheel as a drum, and sharing his love of golfing with them all. They enjoyed many adventures together, as well as quiet moments at home around the fire pit. Over the years, Todd also nurtured and snuggled many kitties that he “swore” he didn’t want. Todd was and remains cherished as a devoted father, provider, and protector.
Todd also had an affinity for motorcycles. In his free time, Todd loved going for rides, watching the Oilers, drinking Boh, playing crib with his mom, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Todd is survived by his parents, Mary (Papa Camil) Labrecque and Gordy Szautner; his girls, Emily Sather, Mackenzie Sather, Amity Szautner, and the mother of his children, Leeanne Vinish; his brothers, Tyson (Billi, Jaiden, Colby) Szautner, Chad (Leighann) Szautner, Justin (Riley, Odin) Labrecque, and Randy (Staci, Alex, Julie) Labrecque; as well as many cousins, aunties, uncles, extended family, and countless friends.
Todd was predeceased by his son, Joseph Gordon Szautner; his grandmothers, Pearl Szautner and Frances Thiemann; as well as many beloved cousins, aunties, uncles, family members, and friends.
Rest in peace Todd, we love and miss you so much. Ride the lightning!
He wore the sunrise on a hardhat brim,
Steel-toed boots and diesel skin,
Hands like wrenches, rough and scarred,
A rig hand’s soul, a biker’s heart.
The drilling rigs would call his name.
Through frozen nights and prairie rain,
Where iron screamed and engines roared,
He stood his ground and worked some more.
And when the long shift finally died,
He’d throw a leg on his Harley ride,
Thunder rolling down the blacktop lane,
Wind washing off the dust and pain.
He loved cold beer at the end of nights,
Old hockey games and neon lights,
Cheering loud from his worn-out chair,
Living hard without a care.
But more than chrome or open roads,
More than all the heavy loads,
His greatest pride beneath the sun
Was the love he gave his little ones.
Three daughters held within his heart,
Loved completely from the start,
And through every mile and every storm,
He tried to keep them safe and warm.
And there beside him through it all,
Through every rise and every fall,
Was Mom — his steady hand, his home,
The one who made the world less lone.
Now somewhere past these earthly skies,
Beyond the smoke and northern lights,
I swear I hear that engine sing
Like heaven gave him one more spring.
No more chains and no more strain,
No more working through the pain,
Just endless highways, clear and wide,
With all his brothers by his side.
And though he’s gone, he still rides near,
In every laugh and every beer,
In every rig light burning bright,
In every Harley through the night.
In his daughters’ strength and in Mom’s smile,
He’ll keep on riding mile by mile.
Cherished Memories is honoured to be entrusted with Todd Szautner's care and arrangements.
