On May 4th, 2026, Syl Serblowski, our loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Friend and Treasured member of the community entered eternal rest at the age of 81. He was born on December 1st, 1944 in Bruno, Saskatchewan.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife Carol, children: Michelle, Leanne(Dean), Cory, Cindy, Carol and Eugene and predeceased by his son Eric, grandchildren: Jack, Owen, Anthony, Shaylene, Desireè along with other grandkids and great grandkids. Also, his beloved Cats Iggy, Archie and Daisy who could always be found snuggled up on his blanket by his feet.

Along with his spending several years holding the office of Alderman for the town of Martensville, Syl was also a cherished member of the town and a proud devoted representative and former District Governor of The Lion’s Club for 50+ years being honoured with awards including “Citizen of the Year”, “Volunteer of the Year”, “The Melvin Jones Fellow”, “The Queen’s Jubilee Medal” for public service along with countless other recognitions for his time and dedication.

Syl enjoyed playing games, fishing, going for long drives and mini vacations around Saskatchewan, watching his wrestling but mostly spending time visiting with his family and friends. You couldn’t go a visit without Syl sharing a life story, a joke or an anecdote or his wisdom from his experiences in life.

After retiring from Sherbrooke Nursing Home as a CNA he focused the remainder of his time on raising funds for The Lion’s club charities such as: DOG GUIDES, KidSport and the Martensville pantry.

If you’re from Martensville or surrounding areas you had a good chance of seeing Syl as you were exiting CO-OP or Canadian Tire selling tickets for various initiatives. His joyful demeanor and infectious smile and laugh are something we will never forget.

The devastating loss of this wonderful man who made a difference in so many lives has left a big hole in our hearts. We will never forget him, always remember his generous spirit and love him forever.

There will be a Celebration of Life held on Friday May 8th at The Heritage Building (at the spray park) located at 415 6th Ave South Martensville, SK, from 2-5pm.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made via cheque made out to “Martensville Lions” with “Walk for Guide Dogs on behalf of Syl” or E-transfer to martensvillelions@gmail.com with the same memo on behalf of Syl for the DOG GUIDES upcoming Walk for Guide Dogs being held on May 31st, 2026 in Martensville starting at the spray park.
