Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Sharon Lianne Yachnik, entered eternal rest. Sharon was born on October 1st, 1953, to Robert and Gloria Marshall in Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan, and grew up on the family farm in Carragana, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her parents and her older sister, Lorraine Hitchcock. Sharon is survived by her siblings, Ken (Diane) Marshall, Lynda Adams, and Marilyn (Rudy) Saufert, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
From a young age, Sharon was known for being feisty, kind, and ambitious. She married John Yachnik on May 25th, 1974. Although their marriage did not remain, they continued to share a close friendship and deep respect for one another. Sharon became a mother with the birth of her daughter, Natashia Renee, on December 29th, 1975, and her son, Nathan John, on May 11th, 1978. Natashia married her high school sweetheart, Jesse Bitz, on June 12th, 1999, and Nathan married Marcy Huckaby on August 6th, 2006; they later parted ways.
Sharon was truly a super mom. She brought joy wherever she went, she volunteered at every event for her children and was a girl scout’s brownie leader, homeroom mother, and hot dog day mom year after year. She and John also helped with numerous family fun nights at the school. Many treasured memories were made as a family camping at Atton’s and Green Water Lake. Sharon was fun to be around, loved to laugh, and brought joy wherever she went.
Throughout her career, Sharon held several positions, including working at DeFehr Furniture, the Sheraton Cavalier, and the Elks Lodge for many years. She later started her own cleaning business, “Mrs. Clean,” with her sister Marilyn. Her strong work ethic helped her purchase a rental property as well as a trailer at Lake Diefenbaker. Sharon was a deeply giving and selfless person, always more concerned about the lives and needs of those around her than herself.
Sharon was ecstatic to become a grandmother and was very proud of her four grandchildren: Tavia, Jagger, Kobe, and Shae. As a grandmother, she treasured every precious moment and made every effort to attend their recitals, games, and events. She loved her grandchildren deeply; they were her everything.
