Obituary

Sharon Joyce McCann (Tendler), aged 74, passed away peacefully in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on May 22, 2026. She was born on March 8, 1952, in Bengough, SK, the eldest of four children and the only daughter among three younger brothers.

Sharon was raised on a farm three miles north of Viceroy, SK, by her parents, John Edward and Joyce Tendler. It was at Viceroy Elementary School, in Grade 1, that she met the love of her life, Edward McCann—a childhood connection that would grow into a lifelong partnership for 53+ years of marriage.

Following their marriage, Sharon and Ed moved to Regina, SK, where she pursued her nursing education at the Grey Nuns School of Nursing. After completing her nursing training, Sharon and Ed settled in Indian Head, SK, where they farmed for 31 years. During this time, Sharon continued her nursing career at the Indian Head Hospital, dedicating herself to caring for others in her community. After leaving the family farm, they spent time in Regina before eventually making Saskatoon their home, where Ed resides today.

Sharon’s greatest joys were her family and the many meaningful ways she spent her time. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother (Nana) who cherished every moment with her husband, four children, and eight grandchildren. Her career as a registered nurse reflected her compassion and commitment to helping others. She loved to travel the world, spend time at the family cabin at Katepwa Lake, and winter in their Sun City, Arizona home. Known for her baking, she especially loved preparing treats for her grandchildren. Sharon also made it a priority to stay closely connected with family and friends, attending countless sporting events, band concerts, and piano recitals in support of her loved ones.

Sharon is lovingly remembered by her husband, Edward McCann; son Ryan (Orinda) McCann and their children, Avaya and Ashton; daughter Krisa (Jonathon) Nataraj and their children, Aoife, Viviana, Emelia and Cohen; and daughter Jill (David) McDougall and their children, Dax and Zaid. She is also survived by her brother Ron (Carrie) Tendler; sister-in-law Linda Ray; brother-in-law Ian (Tanya) McCann; mother-in-law Elene McCann; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Brandee McCann; her parents, John Edward and Joyce Tendler; father-in-law Roy McCann; brothers Kevin and Thomas Tendler; and brothers-in-law Grant McCann and Terry Ray.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Family, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon, SK.
