It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Paulette DeGagné.
Paulette was born on June 24, 1946, in Melfort, Saskatchewan. She was the eldest of four children born to Steve and Matilda Prytula and was raised on the family farm near Brooksby, Saskatchewan.
After high school, Paulette worked in a variety of roles before moving to Saskatoon, where she met the love of her life, Gerald. They were married on September 15, 1973, and were later blessed with two children, Renée and Stephan. Together, they lived in several communities across Canada before eventually making Saskatoon their permanent home.
Paulette had a natural gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and cared for, a quality deeply rooted in the Catholic faith that guided her throughout her life. Much of her professional career was spent in catering and banquet services, a fitting reflection of her love of bringing people together. She carried that same spirit into her home, where she found joy in cooking, baking, sewing, and gardening.
Of all the things that brought Paulette happiness, nothing meant more to her than her family. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her children, Renée and Stephan, and later found immense joy in being a grandmother to Abigail, Finley, Olivia, and Zoey. She cherished every moment spent with them and loved them unconditionally. The memories, traditions, and countless expressions of love she shared with her family will be treasured for generations to come.
Paulette’s beautiful and generous spirit was reflected in her warm smile, which could light up a room and brighten even the darkest day. Her kindness, laughter, and genuine compassion left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Throughout her life, Paulette faced challenges with remarkable strength, grace, and resilience. In her final weeks, she was surrounded by the love of family and friends and supported by the compassionate staff at the Hospice at Glengarda. There, she passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026.
Paulette will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughter, Renée (Kyle) Dussault; her son, Stephan (Shannon) DeGagné; her cherished grandchildren, Abigail, Finley, Olivia, and Zoey; her brothers, Tim (Carolle) and Rick (Sharon) Prytula; her brother-in-law, Brian Doepker; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerald DeGagné; her parents, Steve and Matilda Prytula; and her sister, Kathy Doepker.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice at Glengarda in gratitude for the compassionate care Paulette received: https://sphfsk.ca/hospice/donate/
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 11:00am at St Mary's Parish 211 Ave O South in Saskatoon, SK. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the service at the St Mary's church hall.
Cherished Memories is honoured to be entrusted with Mrs. Paulette DeGagné's care and arrangements.
