Obituary

Patricia-Anne Elizabeth Rogers (nee Whatmore) lived life with colour, creativity, and compassion. It is with sadness that we announce her passing on June 23, 2026, at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon following a period of declining health. She was 79 years old.

Pat was born on September 7, 1946, in St. Catharines, Ontario, to Gord and Doreen Whatmore. She was raised in Calgary, Alberta, alongside her sister, Pam, where she developed a love of learning that would shape the course of her life. She earned her Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary and began her career as an elementary school teacher.

While teaching at Renfrew School in Calgary, Pat met the love of her life, Bob Rogers. They were married on June 27, 1970. After teaching together in Calgary for a few years, Pat and Bob moved to Saskatoon, where they built their home and continued their careers with Saskatoon Public Schools. Pat taught at Lester B. Pearson, Churchill, Lakeview, and Roland Michener Schools. One of their most memorable teaching experiences was job sharing at Lakeview - one teaching in the morning while the other taught in the afternoon. Pat often spoke fondly of her years in education and treasured the friendships she made with colleagues, students, and families.

Creativity was woven into every part of Pat's life. An accomplished seamstress and quilter, she delighted in designing and creating unique pieces that reflected her vibrant personality. Bright colours, bold jewellery, lipstick, and beautifully painted nails became her signature style. As a proud member of the Saskatoon Quilters' Guild, she found not only a creative outlet but also many lifelong friendships.

Pat and Bob shared an adventurous spirit and a love of travel. Together they explored France, Sweden, Italy, Malaysia, Vietnam, Africa, New Zealand, England, and every Canadian province, creating treasured memories and embracing every opportunity to experience the world together.

In 2015, Pat's world changed when Bob lost his battle with cancer. His passing on June 10, 2015, left an immeasurable void. Through those difficult years, Pat found comfort, companionship, and unconditional love in her beloved toy poodle, Mitzi, who rarely left her side. Though they were separated by death for nearly eleven years, those who knew Pat knew that Bob remained forever in her heart. Pat passed away just four days before what would have been their 56th wedding anniversary, a reminder of the enduring love they shared.

As her health declined, Pat moved to Aspira Stonebridge Crossing in June 2025, where she was surrounded by compassionate care and support. The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Aspira Stonebridge Crossing for the kindness and dignity they showed Pat during her time there.

Pat was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bob Rogers; her parents, Gord and Doreen Whatmore; her sister, Pam; her in-laws, Bob and Inga Rogers; her brothers-in-law, Dennis, Sid, and Danny; and her sister-in-law, Donna Rogers.

She leaves to cherish her memory her nephew, Mark (Wendy); her niece, Marci; her brother-in-law, Chip; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth, and their families, along with many dear friends and former colleagues.

In keeping with Pat's wishes, no funeral service will be held.

Those wishing to honour Pat's memory may donate to the Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation, reflecting her lifelong dedication to education.

Cherished Memories is honoured to be entrusted with Pat Rogers' care and arrangements.
