Nelson Tyler Venne

December 1, 1952 — April 23, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nelson Tyler Venne, who left us on April 23, 2025. Born on December 1, 1952, in Leask, SK, Nelson lived a life rich in family, love, and dedication.

Nelson was a devoted husband to his late wife, Brenda Louise Venne, with whom he shared 49 cherished years of marriage. Together, they built a loving family that extended to their children and grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of his life. Nelson’s most important role was that of a family man, fully committed to supporting and nurturing his loved ones.

A familiar face on the ball diamond and hockey rinks, Nelson dedicated countless hours to coaching and umpiring his children’s games. Later, this commitment extended to his grandchildren. His unwavering dedication meant that he never missed a game, braving all weather conditions—even the frigid 7 AM mornings of 40 below—to support his grandkids. His presence was a constant source of encouragement and strength, and he will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Though a man of few words, Nelson always had an opinion about sports and enjoyed a good laugh. His spirit, kindness, and dedication to family and friends will leave a lasting legacy.

A proud member of Muskeg Cree Nation, Nelson was raised in Leask, SK, before moving to Saskatoon. He enjoyed a fulfilling career at Canada Post, where he made many lasting friendships before his retirement.

Nelson was predeceased by his mother, Beatrice (Bea); father, Harry; mother-in-law, Helen; father-in-law, Charles; sister, Joanne; brother, Cecil; sister-in-law, Karen; and son, Kevin (Leanne).

He is survived by his children: Cory (JoAnne), Scott (Carmen), Trevor, and Krista. He also leaves behind his nine beloved grandchildren: Cole, Brayden, Grady, Kendal, Kingston, Kobe, Dawson, Maddox, and Ashlyn, who will carry forward his legacy of love and commitment.

At Nelson’s request, no service will be held. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Cherished Memories is honoured to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Nelson.
