Gramps 

June 9th 1960 - July 24th 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Murray Glenn Sundquist on July 24, 2026, at the age of 66.

Murray was born on June 9, 1960, in Wynyard, Saskatchewan. He leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 46 years, Val along with their children Bobbi, Rodney and Brandi (Simon) and his grandchildren Kohen, Kynslea, Grayson and Brodie, as well as numerous friends and family.

Murray began his career with CP Rail at just 15 years old. He later moved to Saskatoon, where he met Val. They were married on August 14, 1981. He went on to work in the Maintenance Department with the Saskatoon Public School Division for 32 years before beginning his career in mining for 15 years.

Murray was a true jack-of-all-trades with an incredible ability to fix just about anything. Whether it was a car, truck, small engine or something that seemed beyond repair, he loved the challenge of figuring it out. If something was broken, Murray could almost always find a way to make it work again. He believed in working hard and doing every job right, never taking shortcuts.

His talents extended far beyond mechanics. Murray was also a gifted carpenter who enjoyed building custom cupboards, crafting unique fences and decks and taking on home renovation projects. He was happiest when he had a project on the go, always creating something with his hands. At the time of his passing, he was in the middle of remodeling the basement.

Dad spent many years coaching softball and ringette. He was always there to encourage us, support us and cheer us on. Some of our favorite memories with Dad were made on camping trips across Saskatchewan. He was known for making the best coffee and breakfast over an open fire.One of Gramps greatest joys was watching his grandchildren play hockey. He rarely missed a game and always had a few tips and tricks to share afterwards.

Above all, Murray was a devoted husband, dad and gramps. He always put others before himself, had a smile that could brighten any room and never missed an opportunity to tease those he loved. His quiet strength, generosity and willingness to help anyone in need will be remembered by all who knew him.

Murray was predeceased by his parents, Donald Sundquist, Dawn Peturson and his brother, Scott Sundquist.

Murray’s wish was to keep things simple so there will be no funeral service. Val welcomes friends and family to stop by, share a story or two and remember the good times, laughter and memories they shared with Murray.
