Marjorie
Stead
January 21, 1926 – April 15, 2026
Marjorie Stead passed away peacefully at Wheatland Lodge in Leask, Saskatchewan on April 15, 2026.
Marjorie Stead was born January 21, 1926 to Oscar and Edna in Keighley, Yorkshire, England. Marjorie's career in healthcare started with her as a nurse in London during World War II. To further this, she began studying midwifery in Halifax, Yorkshire, and this is where she met her husband, Stanley Stead, who studied to be a physician.
Marjorie and Stanley married in 1952 and started their family life together. Marjorie had three children who meant the world to her. In 1959 the family emigrated from England and took residence in Saskatchewan, Canada.
While living in Canada, Marjorie continued her passion for helping others and promoting healthy living. She taught prenatal and postnatal fitness, and provided swimming lessons to special needs children.
As her own kids aged and had children of their own, she cared deeply for each and every one of them. Her warm-hearted and gentle demeanor was displayed in every aspect of her life as a wife, as a mother, and in her career.
Marjorie is survived by her children John, Ruth, and Duncan. She is also survived by grandchildren Alex, Mariane, Devon, Ian, Duncan, Jordyn and great-grandchildren. Marjorie is predeceased by her husband, Stanley Stead, her sisters Kathleen and Sylvia, and her parents, Oscar and Edna.
She lived a full life of 100 years spreading her knowledge and love to others, and will be deeply missed by her family. As part of the family's wishes, there will be no formal service.
We would like to bring attention to one grandchild in particular, Alex. For many years he had lived with Marjorie and cared for her. As her physical health dwindled, he was ready to do more to make up for it. Thank you Alex, Marjorie was lucky to have a grandson to care for her the way you have.
Thank you to Dr. Aghedo for going above and beyond in taking great care of Marjorie. We are extremely grateful for the compassion that you had for her.
Our many thanks to Cherished Memories in Martensville for the care and arrangements for Marjorie Stead.
