Lynda V Andrew

November 20, 1945 — February 16, 2024

Saskatoon

It is with great sadness the family of Lynda Andrew announces her passing after a short battle with brain cancer.

Lynda was a fun loving free spirit of a sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, wife and friend. Lynda liked to do things differently, and she had an opportunity that not many people get: being able to plan, share, enjoy and attend her own celebration of life. Of course, knowing Lynda, it came with a bit of a twist - attendees were to “party hearty,” to absolutely avoid that awful colour black, and to eat some “Death by Chocolate,” her favourite dessert. Her final moments were spent with many loved ones looking upon the beautiful view that is Kinsmen Park, a place she shared cherished memories with her two great grandchildren.

Lynda is survived by her children: David Andrew and Vanessa Ewen (Doug); grandchildren: Tania Holtorf (Steve), Paige Ewen, and Dylan Ewen (Katelin); great grandchildren: Rowan Ewen and Killian Bowman; sister: Joyce Paul; her many nieces and nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years, Alexander Nixon; parents: Earl Andrews, and Norma Andrews; and her siblings: Mildred Howe, Clifford Andrews, Byron Andrews, Dolly Anderson, Gary Andrews, Doug Andrews, Norman Andrews, Stephen Andrew, Juanita Andrew, and Randy Andrew.

Lynda enjoyed spending her time dancing on tables, cooking, baking, exploring foods of the world, travelling, and researching genealogy. She also enjoyed spending quality time with her immediate and extended family, often surprising and entertaining them with her quick wit and experimental dishes. Lynda continued the tradition her parents had of making Pike Lake a special place for her family, ensuring every generation following had warm, fun and loving memories of spending time there. Lynda enlisted in the Second North Saskatchewan Regiment in 1963, and was later discharged in 1965. She further developed her toughness, unpredictability, and of course her potty mouth during her time spent as a taxi driver, and always had many entertaining stories to tell. Lynda discovered a passion for fitness later in life and enjoyed spending her time at the gym, where she proudly managed to build up enough strength to lift a large dog.

As Lynda’s celebration of life has already been held, there will be no additional funeral to attend.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Healthy Life Care Home for their care and fantastic food. Another thank you goes out to Lynda’s team of healthcare professionals who advocated for her throughout her journey, and provided caring and compassionate service.
