Obituary

With immense sadness, we announce the passing of Linda May Buchan (née Coley) on March 9, 2026, at the age of 77. She fought cancer bravely and has earned her wings.

Linda was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, on January 13, 1949, the fourth of five children of Thomas and Gwyneth Coley. She grew up alongside her siblings: older brothers Sidney and David, older sister Susan, and younger sister Betty, in a modest, loving home.

Linda married Dwight Robert Buchan on June 1, 1968, and remained by his side for life. Together, they built a special family, raising children and welcoming grandchildren. Her family was the light of Linda’s life. The support and love she showed will be treasured forever.

Linda developed lasting friendships, including the Patterson crew and those in her knitting groups. However, her closest bonds were with her sisters and her best friends, Susan and Betty; these connections were deep and unbreakable.

Linda was an avid knitter, making adored creations for many. She had an extensive collection of salt-and-pepper shakers, countless dolls, and endless amounts of yarn.

Linda leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Dwight; her children, Tim (Jolene), Debbie, Brent (Ashley), and Jeff; her grandchildren, Taylor (Katrina), Bryce, Remy, Kylie, Kobe, and Carson; her brothers-in-law, Lorne, Calvin, and Mark (Nancy); her sisters-in-law, Elva and Bonnie; and her extended family and friends. Though the family mourns, they are comforted that she joins her parents, Tom and Gwen, as well as her siblings, David, Sidney, Susan and Betty. The Coley family is together again.

Linda’s family extends a heartfelt thanks to the nurses at St. Paul’s Hospital and the staff at the Porteous Lodge for the loving care they provided to all of us.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Porteous Lodge, where Linda spent her final days.

To honour Linda’s request, no service will be held.

Cherished Memories is deeply honoured to be entrusted with Mrs. Buchan's care and arrangements.
