Kenneth left us unexpectedly, only a short time before what would have been his 70th birthday.
Left behind to remember Ken is his wife of almost 41 years Gail Lilwall, daughters Tabatha (Chris) Cherwenuk, Danielle Lilwall, Chantal (Michael) Lilwall, Shannon Watters and Sean Geddes. Grandchildren, Cory Cherwenuk, Brooke Cherwenuk, Alex Lilwall, Dylan Wehlage, Landon Wehlage, Kahlen Watters, Cian Watters. Siblings – Cam Lilwall, Cathy (Gerard) Gadzella, sister-in-laws, Sue Lilwall, Lorna Thiessen, and brother-in-law Scott Thiessen. Nieces and nephews, Chris (Gini), Kirk (Rebbecca), Aline, Scott, Amanda (Trevor), Ehren, Tim (Katie), Kathryn, Terran, Haley, Austin and numerous extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, David and May Lilwall; his in-laws, Hank and Gloria Thiessen; his brother, Chris Lilwall; and his sister-in-law, Sandy Lilwall.
Ken had a love for driving truck and spent his whole career behind the wheel working in various industries. Ken took pride in his work and held his Class A1 license for 50 years this May of which he was very proud. After a brief retirement this winter he returned to work with Woods Excavating hauling gravel as he wasn’t quite ready for retirement.
Ken had a fierce love for his wife and kids and took pride in all accomplishments that any of them made. He would smile and often say “atta girl”. His grandchildren brought out the playful side and he would do what he could to encourage behaviours that drove their parents crazy. The introduction of Easter Fish will always be something his younger grandkids will remember.
Ken never lost his passion for fishing but didn’t get out as often in his later years as he would have liked. It is a passion that is shared with his daughters and grandchildren. Gardening was also something Ken took pride in, growing an abundance of vegetables that he didn’t eat, but was proud to share with anyone who would take the fruits of his labour.
Ken has left us all with many memories, stories and tons of laughter. He will be deeply missed and always remembered. His family will cherish those memories and enjoy when others share their memories with them of Ken and his sometimes unorthodox sense of humour.
A memorial service is being held at the Knoxx United Church in Langham Saskatchewan on May 24th 2025 at 2pm, followed by a BBQ in town (please bring your own chair). As you know Ken wished for his funeral to be a celebration of his life in keeping with his wishes, we kindly ask that you forgo traditional formal attire and join us dressed in whatever makes you feel most comfortable. There will be a private family internment at a later date.
At the request of the family, In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Kens memory to a charity close to your heart.
