It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of our wife, mother and grandmother Jeanette. After a brief but courageous battle with cancer Jeanette passed peacefully on June 6th, 2025, at the age of 77. She was born in St. Paul’s hospital on December 13, 1947, to Pete and Stella Schmautz, adored baby sister to Eunice, Arnie, Kenneth, Clifford and Bob.
Jeanette grew up in Saskatoon and completed her education at both Princess Alexandria and Tech Collegiate. She started skating and dancing at a very young age where she excelled at both. If she was not at school, or home on Ave D, then she could surely be found at the OLD BARN ARENA on 19th St. Her passion for skating is where she made a lifelong friendship with her buddy Judy. In her later years she continued to coach both figure and power skating in Warman, Elrose, Eston and Dinsmore where she could skate faster backwards then most hockey players could forward.
In The Old Barn was where she also met the love of her life Roy Pavely, they began hanging out and dating at the young age of 14 and were married 6 years later at 20 and enjoyed the next 58 years together, raising their son Blake and Daughter Monique. Operating several businesses and travelling throughout the years, Jeanette enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing and most of all hosting. Some of their favourite and most memorable adventures included swimming with the dolphins in Cancun, riding Camels in Jamaica and watching the bull fights in Puerta Vallarta as well as fly-in fishing trips with John and Diane, playing cards with Bob and Jane, Ken and Marie or Nach and Shirley or staying up till dawn with Joey and Pearl. Not to mention a few rendezvous “people watching” on the stroll with Kenny and Lyn.
Some of her greatest passions were spending time in her yard, gardening from morning till night just as her mother did, or just enjoying the sounds of nature with a coffee and a cigarette in hand on the patio. Jeanette’s most admired past time was spent with her grandson Kyler and then his kids Robbie, London and Lacey. In 2019 she welcomed 2 bonus granddaughters Scarlette and Violette Korosi, which made her family complete.
Waiting to welcome her to heaven were her parents, siblings Eunice (Joe) Unser, Arnie, Ken, Cliff and Bobby (Paula) Schmautz. Infant grandson Jordan, brother-in-law Daryl Pavely and nephews Danny, Arnie and Dean Schmautz. Jeanette is survived by husband Roy, children Blake, Monique (Jamie) Scott, grandson Kyler Pavely and great grandkids Robbie, London Paige and Lacey Blayke, sister in laws, Mary, Linda and Patricia Schmautz, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
At Mom's request there will not be a funeral. Her wishes were to be cremated and a private celebration of life to be held at a later date. We would like to thank the doctors and hospital staff of the palliative care unit at St. Paul’s Hospital for their comfort and care during her few days there.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cherished Memories Funeral Home in Martensville, SK.
