The family sadly announces the passing of Grant Robert Ford on August 30, 2026, at Royal University Hospital after a brief illness, at the age of 89. He passed peacefully with his family lovingly by his side.
Grant was born in Carragana, SK, May 28, 1937. The oldest of three brothers born to Richard & Grace Ford, both of whom predeceased him.
Grant moved with his family to Saskatoon in the early 1940’s and lived here for the rest of his life.
Grant was a proud member of IBEW 529 for 65 years and a working member for 42 years. He enjoyed the challenges and variety of Industrial Electrical work that took him to Prince Rupert, BC, Gillam, MB, and various communities throughout Saskatchewan and in Saskatoon. The highlight for Grant was working in Siberia at a Gold Mine that was being reactivated.
Grant enjoyed spirited conversations with family and friends. He enjoyed woodworking, with several of his projects still being used in the family home. He was an avid photographer throughout his life taking pictures at job sites, family weddings, and other special occasions. Post retirement he spent time with his coffee buddies putting the world to rights.
Grant is survived by his wife Rochelle (nee Murdoch), daughter Janell Ford, brothers Garth (Donna), Garry (Cora), sisters-in-law Betty Senger and Glenda Murdoch, brother-in-law Gerry Murdoch, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his in-laws Ralph and Victoria Murdoch, brother-in-law Nick Senger, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Grant had the privilege of being able to choose MAID. The family would like to thank the MAID team for their compassionate care. The family also thanks Grant’s friends for going up to visit during his time in hospital, and the RUH staff for their care and compassion during Grant’s time in hospital.
Cremation has taken place. At Grant's request, there will be no funeral.
Cherished Memories is honoured to be entrusted with Mr. Grant Ford's care and arrangements.
