Georgina Mary Bone

July 21, 1929 — January 5, 2024

With sadness we announce the passing of Georgina Bone in Saskatoon, January 5, 2024.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am January 27, 2024 in Louise Ave. Congregational Church, at

1602 Louise Ave., Saskatoon. A reception will follow.

Georgina was born the youngest of five with 3 sisters (Margaret, Jane, Ella) and 1 brother (Lloyd).

Her parents emigrated from Scotland and established a homestead at Ridpath in the Rosetown area.

The impact of the depressionon farming was an influence on her early life. After completing teacher’s

qualification at the University of Saskatchewan, Georgina studied at Knox Presbyterian College

in Toronto to become a Deaconess. She began a career in Christian service by providing

youth leadership training for the Presbyterian Church in Saskatchewan.

Later she returned to teaching as a high school English teacher in Saskatoon. She was fascinated by

how children learn and pursued a Masters degree at Columbia University, New York and ultimately

a PhD in linguistics at the University of Alberta. She wanted to apply her learning to

teaching and became an educational psychologist for 6 rural school divisions until her retirement.

Georgina loved literature and was a creative writer, a passion she pursued in retirement.

She was generous and volunteered in many ways to assist others, especially children and young people.

Many of them became a special part of her life. She had a great capacity “to live in the moment”,

was curious about everything and empathic and caring in her relationships. She was an inspiration to all.

She is survived by her nieces Anne Neufeld (Ed), Eunice Kimball (Del), and nephews Philip Campbell (Elizabeth)

and Ian Bone (Bev).

Martens Warman Funeral Services is honoured to be entrusted with Georgina’s care.

A live stream link for the service has been set up at https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/84604
