Elton Kydd

October 1, 1933 — March 12, 2024

Elton passed peacefully at a time of his choosing surrounded by family.  He was born in Grandview, Manitoba, the youngest of seven children and spent his early years on the family farm.  As a young adult, he ventured out on his own, spending time working with a survey crew in Flin Flon, Manitoba before making his way to Winnipeg to pursue his interest in aviation.  He worked as an aircraft mechanic and pilot for over 20 years in Northern Saskatchewan.  Elton also earned a degree in Business Administration at Western University in London, Ontario and spent a brief period with Investors Syndicate in sales before returning to flying and ultimately returning to his childhood home of Grandview to spend his final working years in farming.

In retirement, Elton enjoyed golfing and spent a term as President of Gilbert Plains Country Club.  He met Maxine and relocated to Saskatoon where they spent many happy years together, traveling, camping, golfing, listening to music and spending time with friends and family.  Elton was a talented woodworker, self-taught machinist, welder, fabricator and fixer of anything.  He was intelligent and kindhearted, charming and generous.  He loved music, a good story, a laugh and the great outdoors. He enjoyed memorable trips to Ireland, Scotland and the Arctic with his son John.  He was a wonderful partner, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his partner Maxine Park, his son John (Janesca), grandsons Liam and Finn, as well as Maxine’s children John (Melissa), Kristie (Chris) and their families, and countless other friends and loved ones. A private gathering will be organized at a later date.

Cherished Memories is honoured to be entrusted with Elton’s care.
