Elaine Carmen
Lonson
December 31, 1962 – June 1, 2026
It is with deep love and sadness that the family of Elaine Carmen Lonson (Chabot) announces her passing on June 1, 2026, at the age of 63.
Elaine was born on December 31, 1962, and grew up in Zenon Park, Saskatchewan. She later made Saskatoon her home, where she built a life centered around her family, her work, and the people she cared for most.
Elaine will be remembered for her spunky personality, her dark sense of humour, and her signature quick response of “really?”—often delivered when she was less than impressed or mildly annoyed. She didn’t always catch jokes right away, but she had a natural wit of her own that came through in her own timing and perspective. Her famous mispronunciations of common words also became one of those endearing family quirks that will be remembered and retold with love and laughter.
Elaine dedicated most of her working life as a Continuing Care Aide at Luther Care Home, a role she took great pride in. She was known for keeping things in line, caring deeply for those she supported, and treating her work as more than just a job—it was something she took seriously and did with heart. She also spent a period of her life working as a dispatcher for a trucking company.
Outside of work, Elaine’s favourite place to be was anywhere she could relax and unwind. She especially enjoyed sitting on her deck with a “paralyzer” in hand, enjoying the quiet moments. She loved bingewatching drama and action series, often getting lost in a good show. She also enjoyed time at the lake, especially shore fishing with her partner Rich—always insisting, with a bit of pride and humour, that she caught the bigger fish.
More than anything, Elaine loved her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughters Holly Wiens (Henry), Renee Abraham (Jason), and Ashley Goring (Jeremy). She was a proud and loving grandmother to David, Jayden, Brynlee, Corbin, and Vance, and she cherished cheering them on from the sidelines at their sporting events. Elaine was also the dependable “hotel” for grandkids during city events and the steady presence who was always willing to babysit whenever her daughters needed to travel. She loved her grandchildren deeply and took great joy in being part of their lives.
Elaine is lovingly remembered by her partner Rich Haughey, her mother Florence Chabot, her siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews. She shared a particularly close bond with several of her siblings, including one who became a very special confidant in recent years. She is predeceased by her father Bert Chabot and her common-law spouse Shawn Butler.
Elaine took pride in her life, her work, and most of all, the people she cared for. Her family will remember her as someone who kept things grounded, showed up when it mattered, and loved in her own straightforward, no-nonsense way.
Elaine’s family would also like to acknowledge that she faced a short but courageous battle with cancer. In that time, the moments she was able to spend with her daughters became something deeply meaningful and positive. Those times together will be cherished forever.
Her presence, humour, and unmistakable personality will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to live on in the stories, laughter, and love she leaves behind.
Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with Elaine Lonson's care and arrangements.
