It is with great sadness we announce Doug passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026 at St. Paul's Hospital after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Doug will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his family and friends.

Doug is survived by his loving children: Darryl Smith (Nina Criddle), Wendy Flynn (Jeremy Flynn), Kerrie Smith, and Christina Smith, as well as grandchildren Carter, Alexis, Blake, Dylan, Emily, Mia, Riley, Madison, Taylor and Thomas.

Doug is also survived by his sister Judy Stefanick (Wes Stefanick), as well as nieces and nephews.

Doug was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Mary Smith, his sister Patricia Bliele, brother in law Jim Caswell and former wife Laura Smith.

Doug spent his life welding. He loved fishing, hunting, playing cards and watching old westerns. His friends and family were very dear to him. He lived a very simple life.

His family loves and misses him very much.
