With heartfelt sadness, we announce that Dorothy Laliberte, age 84, passed away on July 13, 2026 peacefully in her sleep. Born on March 6, 1942, Dorothy lived a life filled with love, faith, laughter, and service to others. Known for her infectious smile and warm spirit, she had a remarkable ability to brighten any room and make those around her feel welcome and valued. She lived a full and meaningful life, embracing each chapter with curiosity, determination, and gratitude.
Dorothy spent more than 25 years as a teacher, sharing not only knowledge but also kindness, encouragement, and life lessons with countless students.
She was known for her great sense of humor, her generous heart, and her ability to be both compassionate and firm when needed. Whether in the classroom or at home, she loved teaching others and helping them discover new things.
She was a proud Cree speaker who deeply valued her Indigenous heritage, Dorothy loved God, reading, and studying her Bible. She was a gifted storyteller who delighted in sharing memories, adventures, and stories both real and imagined. She loved to travel, take road trips, dance to fiddle music, sing with her beautiful voice, knit, work on puzzles, play cards, watch old classic and western movies and spend time with family and friends.
Whether enjoying a quiet afternoon with a cup of tea or spending time with loved ones, Dorothy found joy in life's simple moments. Dorothy expressed her love through generosity, often spoiling those she cared about with thoughtful gifts, delicious meals, and endless hospitality. She was an exceptional cook and baker, famous for gathering loved ones around her table for holidays, celebrations, and everyday visits. Her hugs brought comfort, her laughter brought joy, and her caring nature touched countless lives.
Though life brought its share of hardships and challenges, Dorothy met them with courage, faith, and resilience. No matter the obstacles she encountered, she continued to move forward with strength, grace, and determination. She never lost her generous spirit, her sense of humor, or her deep love for others, emerging from life's trials with wisdom and inspiring those around her through her perseverance. Above all, Dorothy loved deeply and wholeheartedly.
As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie, friend, and colleague, she treasured the relationships she built throughout her life and took great joy in bringing people together. Her home was always open, and she welcomed everyone with warmth, laughter, good food, and genuine care. She will be remembered for her faith, wisdom, kindness, and unwavering love for family, friends, and community.
Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched, and she will be deeply loved, forever remembered, and greatly missed.
Left to Cherish her Memory: Siblings: Ethel Loewan (Peter), Alma Striker (Dave), Bertha Striker, and Marie Cook (Grant). Children: Patricia Gallien, Joanne Rediron (Irwin), Lindsay Gallien (Debbie), Diana Williamson (Kevin), and Jenny Chuckrowski. Grandchildren: Jordanka, Crystal, Steven, Robert, Jessica (Stu), Denise (Jesse), Mark, Belanna, Nicholas, Natasha, Justin, Kyle (Sheila), Matthew, Chirstopher, and Donna-Rose. Great Grandchildren: Zachary, Griffin (Hailey), Teigan, Isabelle, Eva, Brooklyn, David, Tyrone, Danika, Tre, Darby, James, Walter, Melody, Elijah, Hannah, Meikah, and Violet. Great Great Grandchildren: August and Aurora.
She is Predeceased by: Parents: Abraham and Roseanne Laliberte. Siblings: Arthur Laliberte, David Laliberte (Evelyne), and Abraham Laliberte. Nieces and Nephews: Pamela Laliberte, David Laliberte, Abraham Laliberte, Linda Wood, Karen Patterson, and Ryan Hritzuk. Son in law: David Chuckrowski. Grandson: Axl Petit.
