David Taschuk, born March 27, 1963, passed away on September 4, 2026.

David will be remembered for his quick wit, big laugh, kind heart, and unmistakable personality. He began working in the restaurant business at the age of 16, beginning a career that took him from Saskatoon to owning his own restaurant in Foam Lake and later to Calgary, where he worked in restaurants and a bakery for many years. He also worked alongside his father, painting houses and refinishing kitchen cabinets.

David enjoyed gaming, watching and betting on football, RC vehicles, Beyoncé, and bingeing his favourite crime and police shows. He was naturally friendly and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He loved to laugh and had a talent for turning ordinary moments into stories.

David especially enjoyed spending time with his sisters. They shared many good times over meals (venting about food costs), running errands, watching and betting on sports. These everyday outings became some of the moments that meant the most.

In his later years, David worked hard to improve his health, losing more than 75 pounds and taking great pride in his accomplishments. He was determined to keep moving forward and take better care of himself. He also had a particular fondness for AquaFit, although he would insist he was there primarily to “watch the mermaids.”

David had a rough-around-the-edges personality, but underneath was a kindhearted softy. He was generous with what he had and cared deeply for those close to him.

He is survived by his sisters Diana Fedosoff, Roxana Taschuk and Tanya Giles (Derek), nieces Chantelle and Larissa Fedosoff and stepmother Marie Taschuk, along with extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his mother, Phyllis Hartwick, his father, Joseph Taschuk, and his brother Michael.

David didn't want a traditional fuss made over him. In his memory, we hope people will share a story, have a laugh, and remember him as he was: a one-of-a-kind guy with a big heart, a sharp sense of humour, and his own way of doing things.
