Obituary

On Saturday, June 20, 2026, we said our final goodbyes to Dave; in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the love of his family. He met his battle against cancer with bravery and resilience, which took his life far too soon.

Dave wore many hats as a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend – but knowing him in any capacity was an honour many shared.

Left to cherish Dave’s memory are his loving wife of 44 years, Brenda; his son, Bradley (Alex), and daughter, Alli (Chris); his adored granddaughters, Parker and Zoey; his parents, Bob and Bev Jennings; and his siblings, Linda (Tom), Bob (Steph), Sharon (Mike), and Ron (Heather), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Dave was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, but spent his earliest years in Ontario. Eventually his family moved to Alberta, settling into their new home in Fort Saskatchewan. It was here that he spent his formative years, graduating from Fort Saskatchewan High School in 1978, and where he met the love of his life, Brenda (née Clish). Surrounded by family and friends, the two were married on June 5th, 1982, beginning a marriage full of love and laughter that would span more than four decades. In the years that followed, they welcomed their children, Brad and Alli, into their family. Dave always prioritized his family and was consistently present; lending a helping hand for any problem, a steady shoulder to lean on, or an understanding ear to listen.

Dave began his career with Imperial Oil, where his work as an operator eventually led him to switch his career path to Human Resources. That career change opened new opportunities and brought his family to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 2000. Determined to continue his career forward, he continued his professional development by earning a Human Resources certificate from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario in 2002. His career continued with Cameco, where he worked in northern Saskatchewan at a fly-in camp at Cigar Lake. After trying his hand at self employment, Dave began another chapter in 2016 by joining the Saskatoon Business College as an instructor. He worked there until his retirement in 2020. Retirement for Dave, however, did not mean slowing down. That began one of the most fun experiences in his career where he became a school bus driver; safely transporting children to school, filling the bus with songs, laughter, and smiles along the way.

Dave found his greatest joy in spending time with family, always happiest surrounded by the people he cared about. Whether it was gathering around for karaoke, lending a hand with a project, or traveling with loved ones, he loved every moment he found to be together. Dave also loved camping, and spending time with the exclusive group called “The Swampers”, where lasting memories were shared around campfires and shin-deep in mud. One of the proudest and most meaningful chapters of his life was becoming a grandpa in 2018. He took his role as “Grandpa Jennings” very seriously, his granddaughters and even grand fur babies were the light of his life.

His family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his palliative care team, especially Terisse, Dr. Dueck, and Nurse Cathie of the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic, for their compassion and incredible care over the past year. Their support brought comfort not only to Dave, but to his entire family during this difficult time.
