Obituary

With broken hearts and endless love, the family announces the passing of their precious daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, Brooke Ange Opikokew-Iron, who began her journey to the Spirit World on July 21, 2026, at the age of 18 years.

Brooke was a beautiful young woman whose bright smile could light up any room. She had a love for dancing, listening to music, and sharing laughter with those around her. She brought happiness wherever she went and had a kind heart that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Brooke was incredibly determined and worked hard to achieve her goals. Through her dedication and perseverance, she became an outstanding student and proudly earned a scholarship to the University of Saskatchewan, where she planned to pursue Social Work. She dreamed of helping others and making a positive difference in the lives of people in her community. Her future was filled with promise, and she will forever be remembered for her strength, compassion, and unwavering spirit.

Though her time with us was far too short, Brooke leaves behind countless treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, classmates, teachers, and everyone whose lives she touched.

Brooke is lovingly survived by her mommy, Emjay Iron; her dad, Ricky Opikokew; her sisters, Aralene and Mimi; her moshum, Herman; her aunties, Jayde, Raylene, Holly and Shelly; her uncles, Joey (Melissa) and Ryan (Dayna); her cousins, Jonah, Arleena, Arlin, Brodus, Zoey, Noah, Bree, Emery, Covey, Delaney, Kendrick, Avery, Emilio, Ethan, Evan, Shilo and Sophie; her Godmother, Verna Iron; her kokums, Diane (Elvin), Dora (Gordon), Belles (Martin), Kokum Lala, Mosum Oginee, Moshum Leroy (Ramona), and Kokum Glenna (Charles); her capans, Jeanette and Sheila; along with many extended family members, friends, classmates, and all who loved her.

Brooke was predeceased by her Kokum, Arlene; Step-Kokum, Diane; Uncle Baby Boy; her Capans, Mary Ange & Clement Iron, Ambrose & Bernice Bouvier, Veronique Opikokew, Pete Opikokew, and Delphis Iron; her Moshums, Tony and Dennis; her Kokum, Karen; her uncles, Joey and Brad; her aunt, Candace; and her cousin, Chad Iron.

A Wake will be held from Friday, July 24 until Monday, July 27, 2026, at Canoe Lake Miksiw School.

A Celebration of Brooke's Life will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Canoe Lake Miksiw School with Dennis Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Canoe Lake Cemetery.
