Barrett was born in St.Albert, Alberta on October 16, 1980. He was Raised by his parents, Fred and Linda alongside his older sister Jocelyn. Barrett’s family later moved to Martensville, where Barrett’s love for the town/community grew. He loved to tell people how long he had lived in Martensville and that he remembered when it was all just fields.
He had a love for sports and would take interest in anything sports related, but hockey had his heart. Barrett passed this onto his boys and took a turn coaching each one of them. (Even trying to convince them to be oilers fans.)
He not only wanted his own boys to have passion for the game but took pride in seeing the kids he did coach succeed and have a true love for the game. Always made his day hearing “Hey, Coach Barrett” and getting updates from the kids. The hockey teams that he helped coach and coach were his pride and joy. We know it also secretly made it even better when they won.
Everyone knows Barrett was always ready to socialize and talk with whomever about whatever. Could even say he liked to be the life of the party.
Barrett also loved his friends, family and was willing to help when he could. His own family- Erin, Kane, Reeve & Hayes.
His boys lost a father way too soon, but his love will live on in how he looked at them with pride, how he would support them in anything and truly loved them beyond words. We know he would have done anything for his boys.
Many memories were made at the lake, on trips, at the rink, on the field, with hockey/sports families, his friends and with work friends. Barrett was loved beyond words and his presence brought comfort, joy and a feeling of home.
He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the blessing of knowing him.
