It is with profound sadness and heartbreak that his family announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Ashton Schmidt on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the young age of 22.
Ashton was born in Saskatoon on December 26, 2003. While he was thankfully living at home, he had big dreams for his future - one of them being to work abroad in Japan. He was actively preparing for this next chapter of his life.
Ashton was a talented cook who discovered his passion for cooking and baking at a young age. He had a natural gift in the kitchen, and his culinary creations brought joy and many smiles to the table. He loved sharing meals with others, exploring new recipes, and dreaming about the adventures ahead.
He also enjoyed snowboarding, volleyball, fishing, and playing Dungeons & Dragons with his friends. These hobbies brought him happiness, connection, and a sense of adventure.
His friends and close coworkers describe him as an amazing person - an incredibly kind young man and a loyal, generous, supportive friend who made a positive impact on everyone around him. They shared that Ashton had so many exciting things ahead of him, and that he will be missed greatly.
Ashton was a caring, thoughtful, and wonderful young man to all who knew him. With his sharp wit, great sense of humor, and the ability to light up a room with his smile, he made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Ashton will be lovingly and forever missed by his parents, Richard and Christine Schmidt of Saskatoon; his brothers Jared Schmidt and Ethan Schmidt, both of Saskatoon; his Nana, Irene Gould; and his grandparents Sidney and Jacqueline Schmidt. He also leaves to mourn his aunties, uncles, cousins, a large extended family, and his beloved family dog, Roxy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a food bank of your choice.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Cherished Memories 591 Centennial Drive North in Martensville, SK.
Family and friends are invited to remain for a Celebration of Life beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Cherished Memories in Martensville, SK. For family and friends who are unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed at the following link:
