Obituary

Arthur Richard Iverson (Dick) was born September 24, 1937, in North Battleford Saskatchewan. He passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026, in the presence of family after a brief, unexpected illness.

Arthur grew up in Meota on the family farm. From a young age, he loved to hunt, and he and his brother Jerry spent many of their early years adventuring and roaming the local prairies, hunting and tracking whatever game was in season. He went to LCBI for 11th and 12th grade, and after that, he graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Civil Engineering.

After graduating, he worked for the Saskatchewan Department of Highways for 16 years in Regina. There, he raised 4 children with his wife Gail. As a young family, they enjoyed many camping trips in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter.

In 1976, he got his dream job working for Ducks Unlimited where he helped restore and maintain waterfowl marshes across the province.

After retirement, he moved up to Candle Lake with his wife Justine. There, he enjoyed his retirement years hunting, fishing, and cross-country skiing, often accompanied by his son Rick and good friend Don. He was an active member in the Candle Lake community and was involved in several community groups and activities including pickleball and curling, and he rarely missed the chance to watch a televised hockey or football game in his downtime. He attended the Candle Lake Community Church and for many years organized and cooked for the weekly men’s breakfast, quietly practicing his faith in service, kindness, and respect for others. He was able to take numerous road trips across Canada and the United States sightseeing and visiting his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

After a fall that took place a year and a half ago, Arthur came to live at the Diamond House Care Home in Warman where he received excellent care, and became a much-loved resident with his good-natured demeanor, dry wit, and occasional adventurous antics.

He is predeceased by his parents Martin and Frances; by brothers John (Marilee) and Jerry (Trudy); by first wife Gail; and by several of his cherished dogs Kelly, Buffy, Banjo, Bo, Abby, and Emma.

He is survived by his wife Justine; by sister Patte Rust (Paul); by son Rick (Leslie); by daughters Susan King (Ron), Karen Weninger (Patrick), and Jodi; by grandchildren Jared, Kimberly, Lindsay, Kaitlin, Konner, Liam, and Everett; and by 11 great-grandchildren. At his request, he did not want a funeral service.

There will be a private family gathering to honour his life. The details of which are forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, you can donate to ducks.org and support the work of Ducks Unlimited, conserving, managing, and restoring wetlands across North America.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with Mr. Arthur Iverson's care and arrangements.
