The family of Agnes Peters is saddened to announce her passing, on September 23, 2026, at the age of 81 years. Surrounded by the love of her family and the care of her caregivers, she left her bed to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Agnes was child number six, out of seven, born to Peter and Elizabeth Peters on August 30, 1945. She was born and raised in the farming community of Great Deer, Saskatchewan, near Borden.

While still a young teenager Agnes took the job of a live-in nanny in Saskatoon, where she soon met Sam Fehr, through mutual friends. Sam and Agnes were married on July 6, 1962, just shy of Agnes’ 17th birthday. Together they had four children. Despite poverty, a tumultuous marriage and many, many moves, Agnes worked hard to be the best mom she knew how to be. She had a talent for, and showed her love by baking, cooking, and seeing the humor in things. Her great sense of humor and quick wit saw her through many heartbreaks and disappointments.

Agnes had many surgeries throughout life, but a mistake made during knee repair surgery in her 30s left her lame, and she would forever have a bad limp. Once again, she overcame and did not let it stop her. Years later this lameness would drastically affect her quality of life. Chronic pain and loss of mobility eventually confined her to her bed.

Agnes loved her children fiercely, as mothers do. The addition of children-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren multiplied that love and she welcomed each one. Many, many hours were given to babysitting and spoiling grandchildren.

In 1998, after 36 years of marriage that held both good and bad memories, divorce became a difficult reality. Agnes was heartbroken, devastated and lost but with her typical determination to carry on, she learned to lean on Jesus, her family and her church. She gave God the credit for seeing her through an awful time. While learning to enjoy her tiny downtown apartment she immersed herself in her apartment building’s activities, her church activities/friends, and activities and special occasions with family. She was also very proud of the scooter that allowed her freedom to go shopping!

Another hard blow was the loss of her precious sister, Tennay, in 2003. Agnes never really recovered from this and mourned the loss of Tennay’s friendship, support and camaraderie for the rest of her life.

On June 18th, 2006, Agnes was thrilled to be baptized upon confession of her faith in Jesus Christ and become a member of the Westmount (Sutherland) Evangelical Church. Her precious Saviour provided her with comfort and courage to face her hardships and limitations. The friendships she developed at Westmount Church were precious to her and lasted until her dying day.

Agnes left her apartment in 2021 and moved to North View Haven Independent Living in Warman where she again adjusted to change and made plenty of new friends who have said she was the life of the party, even though her lack of mobility kept her in bed many hours of the day. In April of 2026 she again needed to move, this time one floor down to the Special Care Ward. She was sad to need the extra care but rallied with good humor. Her caregivers have spoken of their affection for Agnes. Unfortunately, this new level of care only lasted about 10 weeks. Congestive heart failure landed her in St Paul’s Hospital for two months. She was still in the hospital for her 81st birthday and by the time she was moved to Porteous Lodge long-term care home, she needed oxygen 24/7 and had lost her zip. After almost three weeks at Porteous Lodge, she was able to leave her pain and struggle behind and step into eternity, without a limp or a wheeze.

Many thanks to both North View Haven and Porteous Lodge for providing excellent care with kindness and dignity in mind. Along with these, it was her family’s honor to care for Mom/Grandma. She will be greatly missed.

Agnes is lovingly remembered by her children: Glen (Diane) Fehr; (LaVerne) Bonnie Wiebe; Jay Fehr; and (Rob) Tammy Darche; grandchildren: Ryan (Amber) Wiebe; Anthony (Melanie) Fehr; Ashley Wiebe; Steven Fehr, Robby (Ysabel) Darche; (Brandon) Toni Pocket; Emily Thompson; Samuel Thompson; honorary granddaughters: Nadine & Rachel; and numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters; two brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; three adult siblings and their spouses; and one brother in infancy.

A funeral service will be held by the family at Sutherland Evangelical Church, 110 -104th Street, Saskatoon, on Wednesday, September 30th, at 7:00 pm. For those unable to attend, a livestream link will be provided here prior to the service.
