Obituary

Our wonderful husband and father left us, far too soon, on February 21st, 2026. “One in a million” would be the perfect way to describe Abe. He was a well-raised, hard-working jack of all trades, who seemed to know so much about so many different things.

Dad was always willing to lend a hand. If you knew Abe, chances are he fixed something for you at some point. He was a mechanic by trade, but could also renovate a house, fix your blow dryer, sharpen your knives, make you a delicious dinner, replace your toilet, make you a kitchen table, 3-D Print a screwdriver and even sew you a cover for your air conditioner.

Abe loved spending time with his family, enjoying a good meal and a visit after supper. Abe also spent time on a number of hobbies, like woodworking, restoring his 1952 Chevy Pick-up, knife making, wine making, 3-D printing...this list goes on and on.

Abe was loving retirement, after spending 34 years working for the City of Saskatoon Transit. He spent time volunteering at the Western Development with his brother Jake, which was a highlight of his week. Recently, his most favourite way to pass the time was spending Summer’s at Chitek Lake with his wife Karen, his 2 children and granddaughter, and other friends and family who came to visit. Chopping wood and cracking Spitz, visiting with family, coming up with new ways to make their life at the lake a little more comfortable and drinking that early morning coffee brought him so much joy. All the memories and physical gifts he made, will be what bring us joy as we continue to miss and remember him.

Abe leaves a big family who will be cherishing each and every memory of him. His loving wife of 50 years Karen, his two children Stacie and Chad and his sweet Granddaughter Fiona. Abe also has a loving bunch of siblings...John (Joanne), Jake (Linda), Carl (Laureen), Barb (Randy) and Ruth, along with many nieces and nephews.

Abe was predeceased by his Father Cornelius, His Mother Sarah and his Brother Danny.

Our family cannot express how amazing the care was that Abe received in hospital. A special thank you to the Nurses and Doctors of the CCU at Royal University Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Saskatoon Food Bank.

A celebration of life will be held at Lakeview Church, 19 Glazier Road, Saskatoon, Sk. Wednesday, March 4th, 2026 at 1:00pm.
